Excler8

Welcome to City of Sunderland YMCA Foyer Excler8 Page. The YMCA and The Foyer movements are concerned with helping young people recognise their potential.

This is a programme for young people between the ages of 16 and 19, in some cases up to 25 who are not in fulltime education or employment. The aim of this course is to help young people who are undecided about their future build a foundation by learning new skills, gaining qualifications and then accelerate on to further education or employment.

There are 3 main types of learning you can take part in on, they are:

* Employability Skills

* Basic Skills (literacy, numeracy, I.T. and working with others)

* Personal, Social and Development Skills

How your programme can help you:

We will perform several activities some that will be fun some that will be serious. All of them are designed to help you to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

What’s it all about?

Excelr8 is a learning programme, which is all about you, and your individual needs. All learners are individually assessed so that they get the best programme for them, it’s a bit like choosing from a menu, you take the bits you need and leave the bits you don’t need. You will be continually assessed throughout the course so need to worry about taking any exams! You might need lots of support or different types of support from other people and that’s what you’ll get from your programme. We have qualified tutors and volunteers who are all on hand to help support you with your learning.

Progression

Once completing the course staff will support you with your next step, whether it is finding employment, going to college, going on another course or finding independent living we are here to help.

Changing your mind

When you begin the course your officially on a 2 week trial this is so we can determine the course is right for you and for you to identify whether you like the course or not. If you feel it is not suitable we will support you in finding another course. You have the option to change any units you are working on; however we advise not to change them after 2 weeks of working on one.
